COVID-19 Updates Below

October 2020

October Update:

October snuck up on us quickly and here we are enjoying the fresh air, beautiful breezes and enjoyable temperatures. We have been so busy here at the office that September flew by too quickly, but with great results.

We are excited to share with everyone that our new online portal is up and running and we are having great success so far. We invite all of you and your family members to register on the portal at https://leamingtondentist.abelportal.com/en-ca/Account/RegisterNewDentalPatient

to see any pending requests from our office, update your personal information, view all scheduled appointments, complete medical forms, view our contact information, map/directions to the practice, recommend our office to your family and friends. We hope to see everyone register!

Our Covid-19 screening questions and consent have also transitioned to our online portal and you will receive the questionnaire via email prior to your scheduled appointment, it is important that you complete all questions truthfully prior to us seeing you for dental care. You can contact us at 519-326-3313 to update your email address. We do understand that some people do not use email or text and that is okay, we will contact you via phone to complete this screening.

We have always excelled at providing our patients with the highest level of infection control standards and ensuring patient safety throughout the entire office, we will continue to ensure your health and safety each time you walk through our doors. We do ask that you answer all screening questions honestly and advise us if there has been any contact with a Covid-19 positive case if you have traveled outside of Canada within 14 days of your appointment and/or if you have any symptoms.

We continue to ask our patients to wait in their vehicles and call us when they arrive at the office, a mask must be worn. We will continue to take temperatures on all patients and caregivers, and as directed only patients will be permitted into the clinical area.

We are happy to announce that we welcomed Armando Zavala to our team in September, he has been a Registered Dental Hygienist since 2018 and is a wonderful addition to our office.

The office will be Closed Monday October 12 (Thanksgiving) until Friday October 16.

Thank you, stay safe and be kind

  • Upon entrance to the office, you will be asked to sanitize your hands and put on a mask if you aren’t already wearing one.
  • You will be screened a second time using the Covid self-assessment questions from the Ministry of Health as well as reading and signing a risk form. Your temperature will be taken with a no-touch forehead thermometer. If your temperature is over 38’C, you will be asked to reschedule your appt and seek medical assessment.
  • You will be met at the white door to the clinic area by your hygienist. You will be brought to 1 of the 3 rooms that have been sealed with a door and which have their own air purifier in them. This may not be the room you have had your hygiene appointments in the past.
  • Your hygienist will be wearing enhanced PPE including an N95 mask, full body isolation gown and face shield during the appointment as mandated by the CDHO.
  • We have invested in PureVac high volume suction adapters for the hygienists to use. This greatly reduces aerosols.
  • When you enter the treatment room, you will be asked to remove your mask and swish for 30 seconds with either Peroxyl or Betadine mouth rinse.
  • From there the appt will proceed much as it has in the past. The CDHO guidelines state to keep appts as short as possible and therefore they may not be as much social time or ‘chit-chat’.
  • When the appt is completed, the hygienist will remain in the treatment room and direct you to the front desk. This reduces the risk of aerosols produced in the room transferring to other areas of the office. You will be asked to don your mask again and sanitize hands before leaving the office.
  • As per RDCSO and CDHO guidelines, no parents or caregivers will be allowed in rooms where aerosol-generating procedures are taking place. As explained above, this is most hygiene appointments. If the parent or caregiver requests to be in the room, the CDHO requires they wear all the enhanced PPE that hygienists wear (disposable N95 mask, gloves, isolation gown and face shield).
